About
our ethos
We are a community centered upon Jesus Christ and His cross-work. As agents of God's mission whom He has gathered together, we unite around five ethos statements, believing that these describe how God would have us dwell together. These statements guide our structures, commitments, and priorities as we strive to reflect the character of God in the Evanston area, and describe who we are as followers of Christ. Humble Orthodoxy
(Ephesians 4:11-16)
We humble ourselves under God's inerrant Word and cling to the historic teachings of Christ and His apostles. We strive to have our lives and doctrine mastered by God's Word, and we seek to respond to skeptics with truth spoken in love and with intellectual honesty. Abiding Worship
(John 15:1-17)
We aim to abide in Christ with our whole selves and offer our bodies as living sacrifices for God to use. We abandon our idols to worship God aloneāin spirit and in truth, corporately and individually. We practice the spiritual disciplines taught in Scripture and modeled by Christ so that the Holy Spirit might purify and empower us as we join in the Father's mission. Missional Community
(Acts 2:42-47)
We are a community that is woven together through the person and purposes of Jesus Christ. We dedicate ourselves to interdependent living and join together to incarnate the love of Christ for all people even as we proclaim the Gospel in every sphere of influence God has given us. Invested Sojourners
(Jeremiah 29:4-7)
We work to redeem our neighborhoods and invest in others, even while we recognize that change is the only constant in Evanston. We creatively invest our abilities and time for whatever length our sojourn here, and we embrace our unique opportunity to commission Gospel laborers to the world at large. Pervasive Gospel
(2 Corinthians 2:14-17)
We faithfully proclaim the Gospel to ourselves, to one another, and to our neighbors, trusting that God will use His message to accomplish His purposes. We let the Gospel of grace reshape our lifestyle and our worldview, and we carry its aroma into every sphere of life. Click here for a sermon on "Pervasive Gospel."
